Interview: Working with Naimuri as a Master's student in Data Science
One of our recent Master's students shared his thoughts about his time with Naimuri and the work he was involved in.
1. How did you find working with Naimuri?
Working with Naimuri was a highly rewarding experience. My sole point of contact was Sam Moreland, who guided me throughout the project. Though there was no formal team, Sam's support and mentorship were exceptional and made a significant impact. I appreciated the freedom to explore innovative solutions while receiving his valuable feedback and insights. This experience not only enhanced my technical skills but also gave me a better understanding of how industry professionals address real-world challenges.
2. How long did you work with Naimuri?
I worked with Naimuri from May to September as part of my placement project during my master's program in Data Science. This time frame allowed me to fully engage with the project, from conceptualisation to implementation, while also gaining insight into the company's practices. I would have loved to extend the placement to delve even deeper into the work further.
3. How valuable are placements like this for students?
Placements like this are incredibly valuable for students because they bridge the gap between academic learning and practical application. They provide hands-on experience in solving real-world problems, enhance communication skills, and offer exposure to professional tools and workflows. Working on a challenging project like this one allowed me to better understand industry expectations, refine my career goals, and build confidence in my abilities.
4. What's next for you?
Having completed my master's program, I am now focused on applying my skills and knowledge to contribute to more projects in the field of data science. I am particularly interested in roles that involve advanced machine learning and natural language processing techniques to tackle meaningful challenges. My experience with Naimuri has inspired me to pursue opportunities where collaboration and innovation are central, as I aim to grow professionally while making a difference in the field.
