Imagine a gender-equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where differences are valued and celebrated.
Together, we can forge gender equality. Collectively, for #IWD2025, we can all #AccelerateAction.
This year's International Women's Day theme is "Accelerate Action." It's all about pushing for faster change to achieve gender equality. It's about individuals, companies, and governments all coming together to break down the walls that hold women back in all areas of life. The goal is to make sure women's rights are fully recognised and equal opportunities are the norm, not the exception. By speeding up our efforts, we can all make a real, positive difference for women and girls around the world.
In support of #IWD2025, we asked our team how they think we can accelerate action:
Lisa Wood: "Accelerating action toward gender equality requires both systemic change and individual commitment. The key to accelerating action is collective effort—when individuals, communities, businesses, and governments all commit to real, measurable change."
Ruth Mills: "Accelerating action towards gender equality requires a truly intersectional approach, inclusive of all, including people of colour, LGBTQIA+ people, disabled and neurodivergent people, religious people and people of no religion—inclusive of each person's unique background and circumstances."
Ian Wilson: "Further promote gender equality in schools. As someone with a young daughter, I think we need to continue to integrate gender equality into the curriculum to foster understanding and respect from an early age. Breaking down stereotypes before they have time to set in."
Sadia: "Accelerate action for a fair and equal world where we embrace our similarities and respect our differences. Each one of us is unique, and it’s on us to create inclusive communities, organisations, and societies. On International Women’s Day, let’s be the change we want to see, take meaningful actions that have a real impact."
Shahzad Quraishi: "Accelerate action for a world where everyone learns to respect people from all backgrounds and cultures. As a father to a young daughter, we need to encourage everyone to live peacefully together in society without judging or slandering anyone. Let us lead by example and set the change we want to see in the world so tomorrow’s generation does not have to struggle like we did."
