Rob is the Bid Manager at Naimuri and has been with the business for just under three years.
What attracted you to apply to work for Naimuri?
The mission, and opportunity to work in a new sector and develop the bidding function and ways of working here.
How did you find the recruitment process?
Excellent - My recruiter, Ian, was really positive, open and responsive throughout the recruitment process. He introduced Naimuri, its culture and mission really honestly and accurately, and took the time to understand what my skills, experience and aspirations for my next role were.
Describe what you do day-today?
I primarily support our end-to-end bid process: Responding to our customers and their requests for information about our services; keeping track of our current (and prospective) bids with Aaron, our Bid Co-ordinator; and creating bid collateral and assets. This means I'm linking with our Business Development Leads, and Marketing, Commercial and Delivery teams on a daily basis... (and writing a lot!).
What interested you in a career in technology?
This was my first role in Tech, so I thought this role presented a great opportunity to learn a lot in an extremely dynamic sector.
What areas of technology are you most passionate about?
I'm intrigued to see what AI brings to Bid Management (and pretty much life as we know it!) over the coming years.
What are the top five skills you need to do your role?
- Good writing and organisational skills
- Being open, collaborative, and good team player
- Proactivity, positivity, and a can-do attitude
- Patience, assertiveness and resilience
- Kindness, and a sense of humour (though these help in any role!...)
What is the best thing about working at Naimuri?
My colleagues - There's some brilliantly talented people working here, and a genuinely collaborative, open and friendly working environment.
What is the career progression like at Naimuri?
There’s a really well defined progression framework in place here, and a nurturing approach to training, accreditation and professional development... You genuinely have the opportunity to develop your skills and experience here, if you want to.
What are your career aspirations?
Ever since Uni (where I studied English Literature), I knew I always wanted to write. I guess I'm lucky that my career as a Bid Manager, and previous experience as a journalist and sub-editor, has enabled me to do this so much in my day-to-day role already.
What advice would you give to someone wanting a career in technology?
The best advice I've ever received in my career was to remember that people aren't 'born' into roles: They're trained, guided, encouraged and supported to succeed. So do everything you can to put yourself in environments that support this… And ask lots of questions! Finding a mentor really helps, too. Also, appreciate that where you 'start' in your career probably won't be where you end up. So be sure to enjoy the journey!
What would you say to someone who is considering applying to work for Naimuri?
Do it! Come and talk with us (we're a friendly bunch!) - This is a business with a real sense of purpose and mission, and the work we do genuinely makes a difference.
